Examples:

meaning:  an attempt to punish people for doing something that is illegal (कार्रवाई)

Examples:
1. The police are having a crackdown on motor cyclists who perform stunts on roads.
2. The school has started a crackdown on pupils who have facebook accounts.



Intolerance

If there is a sense of intolerance, I think it impedes our economic progress.


meaning: refusing to accept ideas or beliefs which are different from your own. (असहिष्णुता,  न बर्दाश्त करने वाला)

2. The intolerance of the Jacobins led to execution of many eminent personalities.




To impede

If there is a sense of intolerance, I think it impedes our economic progress.

meaning: delay or prevent or hinder (बाधा डालना)

Examples:
1. The war is always expensive, it impedes prosperity.
2. Her progress has been impeded somewhat by her lack of experience.




Amnesty

meaning: official pardon, reprieve (आम माफ़ी, राजक्षमा)


Examples:
1. The government granted amnesty to all political prisoners.
2. He was outlawed, but returned under a special amnesty
